These last few weeks, I seem to have been inadvertently building my loco and stock collection without intending too, thanks to the efforts of a number of members of the second hand trade!
In a world where the internet is full of words complaining the hobby is dead, and that no one can afford to buy baby trains any more, I thought this would come as welcome news!
To summarise, I was able to pick up a rake of 6 Hornby Vee cement tanks, detailed and weathered, with Instanter couplings fitted along with replacement buffers, along with an as new Heljan class 14 for the grand old sum of £80.00. Then, out of chance while browsing the local toy fair, the chance came up to buy 8 Airfix 16T minerals for £2.00 a pop, with modern metal wheel sets already fitted…
So people, stop typing another message saying you can’t afford to buy the latest Bachmann loco for £140.00, get off the sofa and go and start searching around the second hand market (NOT eBay!) you never know what you may find at a very reasonable price!
