Six Quarters

Six Quarters is the sequel to Stoating Bank.

Again based on the National Coal Board’s (NCB) internal railway systems it depicts a landsale yard and is named after a principle coal seam in the Whitehaven area.

Landsale yards were the NCB’s commercial coal sidings, much like traditional coal sidings on British Rail.

The layout took it’s inspiration from the Landsale yard at Brynlliw Colliery, however the overall atmosphere is based very much on Gordon Edgar’s incredible images of colliery steam, especially around the Lowca, Whitehaven area where the layout takes its name.

The layout is 7 feet including it’s cassette fiddle yard. The layout is either DC or DCC operated dependent on rolling stock available. All stock is a mix of detailed ready to run and kit built.

An article on the layout appeared in the December 2018 edition of British Railway Modelling.

Any questions just ask.
